I finally got to capture the most perfect same sex marriage…

Jana & Alicia's Blackwater Wedding

December 7th, 2017 the Australian LNP government came kicking and screaming into the modern times and finally passed laws to allow same sex marriages. On this day I made a Facebook post looking for my first couple to capture the photography for their wedding. Despite that post going somewhat viral locally, I nearly made the evening news (had I not been at work I would’ve been on there) I was never able to find suitable clients. On the weekend I finally (FINALLY) was privileged to photograph my very first (of hopefully many) same sex marriages.

And I could not have asked for a more amazing couple!

The love Jana and Alicia have for each other emanates from them. It spreads to their amazing families who treated me like one of their own all weekend. I truly feel blessed to have been a part of their, most special of special days.

After a short and sweet ceremony out at the Bedford Weir, the Blackdown Tablelands provided a spectacular backdrop for some photos. Country girls at heart, this was the perfect setting for this perfect couple.

And the evening was finished off with a simple, but fitting backyard wedding reception. Open fires pits, wonderfully lit tables and the most precariously constructed swing in the world provided the entertainment through the evening!
